About Resolve

Resolve Mental Health was founded with a focus on quality care and personal engagement. We have structured everything to prioritize the growth of the client via a highly accessible therapeutic relationship.

Our Vision

Blue and Silver Final SVG

At Resolve, we believe therapy should be compassionate, collaborative, and focused on meaningful change. Our goal is not to make clients dependent on care but to help them develop the clarity, skills, and confidence they need to live with greater freedom and fulfillment.

We value honest guidance, individualized care, and ethical decision-making. Sometimes the best support we can offer is therapy with one of our experienced clinicians. Other times, it may mean helping a client connect with outside resources that are a better fit for their circumstances.

We see mental health as part of the whole person. Emotional wellness is shaped by physical health, relationships, values, spirituality, and life experiences. At Resolve, we help clients strengthen the mental and emotional pieces of that larger picture so they can move toward a more balanced and meaningful life.

I have a Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling from DBU, a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy with an emphasis in Ethics from Marquette University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Historical Theology from ORU. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in the state of Texas. I love working with adolescents, adults, and couples. My experience includes 10 years in the private practice setting working with individuals, couples and families. I have extensive experience working with foster children, post-adoption, and parents of children from hard places. In fact, I worked for 5 years (in collaboration with Cook Children’s and Superior Healthcare) as the Clinical Director of two nationally recognized family therapy programs, Turning Point and Summit House. As part of my training, I worked for 2 years as a family therapist at a psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents and for 1 year as a crisis counselor with Safe Haven of Tarrant County.

I am research driven and will only utilize evidenced based interventions in counseling. While I am experienced in practicing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy and using attachment models to understand family dynamics, I ultimately believe that counseling will only be effective if a safe and secure relationship is formed between the therapist and the client. This belief in the significance of felt safety underlies all my interactions with clients. I also believe that self-knowledge and insight are essential for clients to be able to maintain any progress they have experienced in therapy. A significant aspect of therapy, then, involves a guided journey to improved self-knowledge. Goal setting is a collaborative process and the methods used to reach these goals will be tailored to the unique  person working with me.

I have been privileged to counsel people from all different backgrounds and faith perspectives. I will incorporate matters of spirituality in counseling to the extent you desire.

Hi! I’m Emily (she/her), and I’m a licensed mental health therapist specializing in self-perception, anxiety, ADHD, autism, connection-based parenting, complex trauma, and religious trauma. After teaching elementary music and high school choir for 16 years, I became a therapist focused on helping people who want to know and understand themselves and their emotions better. The therapeutic relationship is one where we explore areas you have felt stuck or unseen with openness and compassion.

My primary therapy modalities include Compassion-Focused Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy; however, tailoring the therapeutic structure to you as an individual is very important to me, and I welcome interest in diving deeper into a specific approach. My philosophy is person-centered, meaning that I believe you are the expert on what it is like to be you, and your own hopes and needs are what we build your therapy plan around.

To further expand on some specific areas, I am invested in trauma-informed practices, particularly when processing current thoughts, feelings, and beliefs that tie back to earlier experiences. This can involve parts work, inner child work, and gentle exploration of complex-PTSD. For those who have had major shifts in their thinking, it is often beneficial to be able to discuss more abstract and philosophical concepts such as nihilism and existentialism. I also recognize the systems and institutions that affect mental health, and acknowledge that the context of our lives greatly influences the ways in which individual therapy can facilitate healing.

I am originally from Louisville, Kentucky, and I have had the privilege of practicing mental health therapy for over 18 years. My clinical journey began in Nashville, Tennessee, at the YWCA, where I worked with survivors of domestic violence. Since then, I have continued to grow as a therapist through a wide range of clinical experiences, including Community Mental Health, Acute Care, clinical leadership, and work with military members and their families through the Department of Defense.

Over the years, I have supported clients across the lifespan, from very young children to older adults, and I have worked with individuals and families facing many different challenges, transitions, and seasons of life. These experiences have given me a deep respect for the courage it takes to begin therapy and the importance of creating a space where clients feel seen, supported, and understood.

I truly love the work I do. My goal is to partner with you in a way that feels collaborative, compassionate, and meaningful. Together, we can explore what matters most to you, identify the changes you want to make, and work toward greater healing, fulfillment, and overall well-being.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
